What is Entropy?
ENTROPY is a body of work composed of three interconnected series:
Combustion, Corruption, and Diffusion.
Each series explores the principle of entropy through a different visual language, from the release of energy through fire, to the corruption of information, to the diffusion of form into noise.
The release begins with a 24-hour open edition, where every collector receives the same token. Once the mint closes, the first reveal splits the supply between the three series.
For the next two weeks, one artwork from each series is revealed every day.
The sequence moves from larger editions toward increasing rarity, ending with a 1/1 in each series.

Combustion
Humans have a deep history with fire, learning to control it was one of the most consequential developments in our evolution. It profoundly changed the way humans ate, lived, and interacted with their environment.
Perhaps because fire has been so central to human survival and development, it has also become embedded in the language we use to describe ourselves. we come under fire, get worked up, keep our cool, get burned, or find ourselves surrounded by smoke and mirrors.
Combustion explores this overlap between physical fire and metaphorical fire.
By personifying fire, the series creates a curious juxtaposition between the human body, which is a highly ordered, self-maintaining living system, and combustion, an irreversible process that disperses energy and generates entropy.
At the same time, fire becomes a vehicle for visualizing the moods, contradictions, consequences, and experiences we normally express through language.
Diffusion
There are parallels to draw between noise and human emotions, but beyond anything I could write, the immediate visceral feeling I get when looking at works in the series is numbness... a diffusion of any feeling.
Somehow the texturization of the human form with noise invokes a feeling presence without being there. This contradiction is prevalent in modern times, hyperconnectivity in isolation.
Something interesting happens when the same treatment is applied to nature. Flowers are a beautiful example of order, one that we have evolved with, entropy symbolized by noise creates a contradiction that makes the brain go into short circuit.
Entropy is what ties the three series together: Combustion, Corruption, and Diffusion.
Learning about the principle of entropy while working on this series changed the way i see the world. It made me appreciate how improbable life and order is in the universe and how achieving order in a system requires disorder elsewhere.
Corruption
A glitch originates from an unpredictable malfunction in a system. it's information entropy at play. In this series, I use the corruption of pixels to illustrate the seemingly infinite examples in which humans can be corrupted.
Growing up in the Caribbean, I experienced corruption first-hand for most of my life. It was only after I moved back to Spain that I realized that in developing countries corruption is available to everyone, while in more developed countries corruption is reserved only for the elite.
The series shows how corruption allows one part of society to remain stable by forcing the consequences of disorder onto another. A human expression of entropy.
A system that appears stable from the outside only remains stable because its disorder has been displaced, hidden, or transferred to another body. Corruption is just another way that entropy manifests in the human condition.
